Aim
The course will introduce the principles of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) remote sensing. The basics and methods how to analyze SAR data in environmental sciences will be covered.
Content
The course will introduce the principles of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) remote sensing, the processing of single and multiple SAR data, the processing and interpretation of Polarimetric SAR (PolSAR) and Interferometric (InSAR) imagery, and the application of SAR/PolSAR/InSAR in geo-sciences. We will make use of data acuqired by the Sentinel-1 satellite (S-1), which offer C-Band SAR data with a high spatial resolution of less than fifteen meters and a large coverage of about 250 km by 200 km with one single acquisition.
