Master Defense by Isabella Metz: ” Analysis of Uncertainties for Error Detection and Quantification of Bathymetry Data from Multispectral Sentinel-2 Imagery

On January 07, 2025, Isabella Metz will defend her master thesis on ” Analysis of Uncertainties for Error Detection and Quantification of Bathymetry Data from Multispectral Sentinel-2 Imagery” at 13:00 in seminar room 3, John-Skilton-Str. 4a.

From the abstract:

In order to address the significant unmapped information gaps from conventional onsite surveys, this thesis develops a processing workflow for Wave Kinematics Bathymetry (WKB) derived from Sentinel-2 satellite data, which is independent of water clarity based on six coastal study areas around the world. The goal is to create a completely automated, globally applicable processing workflow at 100m resolution to increase the accuracy and reliability of satellite-derived WKB images. It primarily focuses on automatic post-processing that uses quantification and verification techniques to eliminates depth errors.
