From the abstract: The internship with the Cologne Zoo included a fieldwork period with the Black-footed Cat Working Group (BFCWG) in Kimberley, South Africa. The project focuses on the conservation of the black-footed cat (Felis nigripes), which is listed as Vulnerable (VU) on the IUCN Red List. It is the smallest cat species in Africa and occurs in the arid southwestern parts of southern Africa. The species is one of the least studied carnivores and is regarded as the rarest African cat. Main tasks: VHF radio-tracking of collared black-footed cats in the field Building a database from 30 years of GPS data, including extensive quality control and data cleaning
