The IRIDeS is dedicated to advancing research and understanding in the realm of disaster science. Situated in Japan, IRIDeS plays an important role in disaster prevention, mitigation, and response. As an EAGLE M.Sc. student from Germany, Konstantin Müller has been granted a unique and invaluable opportunity to dive into the work of IRIDeS for a three-month-long internship. During this immersive experience, Konstantin focuses on social data and employs sophisticated topic-modeling techniques to extract meaningful insights from global media reports about disasters. The internship not only showcases the interdisciplinary nature of research at IRIDeS and his home university JMU Würzburg but also underlines the institution’s commitment to fostering international collaboration.
