Elio Rauth

UAS applications in arctic ecology

About

Elio is a doctoral researcher at the University of Würzburg with an academic background in data science. His PhD project focuses on the relationship between snow depth and plant community composition in cold ecosystems, with study sites in Svalbard and at the Zugspitze. His main research interests include using drones to map ecological data and studying how climate change affects the Arctic. As part of the EORC’s UAV team he is often found in the field flying drones. His favorite part about being a remote sensing researcher is getting to know study sites at different resolutions, from identifying plants in the field to looking for patterns in spatial datasets and creating detailed maps.
