EAGLE Internship Presentation ” Internship on Svalbard”

On February 24, 2026, Leonie Sonntag and Jannis Midasch will present their internship results on ” Internship on Svalbard” at 13:00 in seminar room 3, John-Skilton-Str. 4a.
From the abstract: During March and April 2025, the two EAGLE students Leonie Sonntag and Jannis Midasch completed their internship at UNIS (University Center in Svalbard) at the Department of Biology under supervision of Prof. Dr. Larissa T. Beumer. They supported various research activities within the department, including drone imagery acquisition and field data collection for snow hydrology studies, as well as mapping food craters created by Svalbard reindeer. Besides, Jannis Midasch worked on an R-package faciliating the usage of overview maps while Leonie Sonntag was preprocessing and analysing UAV-imagery for snow bunting mapping on Svalbard.
