About
Simon is with the team “Natural Hazards” at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) where he has been involved in research projects focusing on the development of automated algorithms and methods for crisis-related information extraction from optical, thermal and (interferometric / polarimetric) Synthetic Aperture Radar remote sensing imagery. His research interests cover volcanoes, landslides, floods and wildfires. Moreover, he is involved in operational activities for the extraction of crisis information from remote sensing data at DLR’s Center for Satellite based Crisis Information (ZKI), which contributes to several national and international activities in the field of disaster mitigation. He is an Emergency On-Call Officer, Project and Data Manager in the framework of the International Charter “Space and Major Disasters
